Satellietontvangst/satellite reception

Hoe werkt satellietontvangst?

Satellite reception, how does it work ?

A broadcasting station, a radiostation or a internet provider sends his signal to a satellite, on a fixed position in space, a prox 36000 km above the earth. The satellite sends back the signal to a specific area, this is called the footprint.

Introduction

A few years ago I bought a sat dish with a stb. The only thing I know for sure is that it's a mysterie to a lot of people. The reason is simple in Belgium people have been overflooded with cable tv, and now with digital television. So sat tv was only to people who wanted to vieuw channels from their home country.
Tv vlaanderen is popular but Telenet and Belgacom TV are stil the biggest providers in our country.

I would like to make this subject easier to everyone who is interested in sat tv.

STB : set top box the little box you need to receive the signal from your satellite dish.
